The apostle John wrote when people found Jesus they asked Him, “What sign show you then, that we may see, and believe you? what do you work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven”, and in chapter six and verse thirty-three of his book, John shared how Jesus tells the people, “the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven” where we read:
For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world.
The verse reads, “For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven, ...”. John began with the words, “for the bread of God” or “because, since and on account that the food and nourishment from Father God” “is he which comes down” which means “is the person, Jesus, who descends and comes forth” “from heaven” or “apart and separated from the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings”. John shared how Jesus said the “food or nourishment” that comes from God is “He, Jesus” who descends from the “Heavenly region”.
The verse goes on to say, “...and gives life unto the world.” John continued with the words, “and gives life” which means “and grants, furnishes, supplies and provides real and genuine life that is active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed, in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ, but after the resurrection to be consummated by new accessions (among them a more perfect body), and to last for ever” “unto the world” or “to the circle of the earth with it's inhabitants both men and women”. John shared how Jesus said God the Father's “food and nourishment” provides “eternal life which is real and genuine” to the entire “earth” and it's inhabitants.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we see how Jesus said God's “spiritual” “bread” or “nourishment” descended from the “Heavenly region” and provides “real and genuine” eternal life to everyone in the “world”. Jesus earlier declared, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (See John 3:16), and now all that is necessary is for a person to “believe and trust” in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”. When they do, they will receive forgiveness for their sins and everlasting life with God in Heaven forever. Those who are wise will submit themselves to the only “spiritual nourishment” that is given to “save” everyone in the world.
Next time John shares how the people say to Jesus, “evermore give us this bread”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
