When Did You Come Here? - John 6:25

The apostle John wrote how people were observing the sea, and “stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone. (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias near unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:) When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus”, and in chapter six and verse twenty-five of his book, John shared how the people asked Jesus, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” where we read:

And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him,

Rabbi, when did you come here?

The verse reads,And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, ...”. John began with the words, “and when they had found him” or “and at the time and moment the people seeking for Jesus discovered He was” “on the other side” which means “across or on the opposite side”, “of the sea” or “belonging to the large body of water known as the Sea of Galilee”, “they said unto him” which means “the people searching for Jesus uttered, declared, proclaimed to and asked Jesus” the following words. John shared how the people who were “seeking for” Jesus discovered where He was and asked Him the following words.

The verse goes on to say, ... Rabbi, when did you come here?John continued with the word, “Rabbi” which means “great one, honorable sir or teacher”, “when did you come here” or “at what time and moment did you, Jesus, arise, appear and come forth to this place”? John shared how the people asked Jesus “when” He arrived at the location where they found Him.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how the people who were looking for Jesus located Him, and asked Him at what time He got to that place. We shall discover their desire to find Jesus was not for the reasons they should have, but for now let us be impressed with their passionate desire to find Him. God wants people to seek Him, and when they yield their life to Him to be their personal “Savior and Lord”, He is all sufficient to forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and enjoin them to meet their every need.

Next time John shares how Jesus tells the people, “you seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you did eat”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
