Jesus to Be Taken By Force - John 6:15

The apostle John wrote after Jesus fed a huge multitude with five barley loaves and two fishes, Jesus told His disciples to, “Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world”, and in chapter six and verse fifteen of his book, John shared what happened, “when Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force” where we read:

When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king,

he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

The verse reads,When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, ...”. John began with the words, “when Jesus” or “at the time and moment the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “therefore perceived” which means “then, wherefore, consequently and these things being so, Jesus understood, discerned and noticed” “that they would come” or “that the people both male and female would arise and appear” “and take him by force” which means “and seize, carry off and snatch Jesus away eagerly and forcefully”, “to make him a king” or “to make ready, prepare and designate Jesus as a leader of the people, prince, commander and lord of the land”. John shared how Jesus understood the sentiment of the people who desired to forcefully make Him their ruler and lord.

The verse continues, “... he departed again into a mountain himself alone.John added the words, “he departed again” which means “Jesus left and went forth another time” “into a mountain” or “to a rising above the plain or hill” “himself alone” which means “by His own self”. John shared how Jesus left the crowd of people who desired to “make Him a king” and ascended to a “mountain” to be alone again.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we see how Jesus responded to the idea of being “promoted” by the people. The people of the land saw Jesus perform miracle after miracle, and when they knew He could feed them, they desired to make Him their ruler. Jesus is indeed the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords”, but this title does not come from man, but from His Father God. Jesus would not accept their desire, and He ascended into a mountain to be alone again. Jesus Christ came into the world to be the “Savior” of every person who puts their “faith and trust” in Him. Those who rely upon, cling to and trust in Him will be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God. There He shall be “King” forever by the appointment and purpose of God Almighty Himself.

Next time John shares, “when even was now come, his disciples went down into the sea”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
