The apostle John wrote how Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do: for what things soever he does, these also does the Son likewise. For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that himself does: and he will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel. For as the Father raises up the dead, and quickens them; even so the Son quickens whom he will”, and in chapter five and verse twenty-two of his book, John shared how Jesus said, “the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son” where we read:
For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son:
The verse reads, “For the Father judges no man, ...”. John began with the words, “for the Father” or “because, since and on account that the Heavenly Father God” “judges no man” which means “approves, esteems, prefers not one person whether male or female”. John shared how Jesus said God “the Father” does not put Himself in the place of “approving or esteeming” a person.
The verse continues, “... but has committed all judgment unto the Son:” John added the words, “but has committed” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover has granted, bestowed, furnished and supplied” “all judgment” or “every one of the opinions, sentence of condemnation, damnation and justice” “unto the Son” which means “to the Son who is Jesus”. John shared how Jesus said God “the Father” has “entrusted, furnished and supplied” all sentences of condemnation and justice to His Son Jesus.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how the authority or “judgment” has been transferred from the “Father”, who is God to the “Son” Jesus. In other words, the relationship with God the Father is in communion with Jesus the Son. God desires to have a personal relationship with everyone, and those who are wise will yield their life to Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”. When people who believe in Jesus appear before Him in “judgment”, He will declare they are forgiven, made righteous and worthy by His grace to inherit eternal life. However, people who refuse and reject Jesus will find Him to be their “judge” who holds their eternity in His hands.
Next time John shares how Jesus says, “all men should honor the Son”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
