True Bread from Heaven - John 6:32

The apostle John wrote when the people who were looking for Jesus found Him, they asked Him, “What sign show you then, that we may see, and believe you? what do you work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat”, and in chapter six and verse thirty-two of his book, John shared how Jesus told the people, “Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven” where we read:

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.

The verse reads,Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven;”. John began with the words, “then Jesus” or “at that time the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate” “said unto them” which means “uttered, declared and proclaimed to the people who looked for Him”, “verily, verily” or “truly, truly or surely surely”, “I say unto you” which means “I, Jesus, utter, declare and proclaimed to you, people”, “Moses” which refers to “the legislator of the Jewish people and in a certain sense the founder of the Jewish religion whose name means drawing out” “gave you not that bread from heaven” or “did not grant, bestow, furnish or supply to the people the “food or nourishment” separate and apart from the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings”. John shared how Jesus certifiably told the people who looked for Him that “Moses” was not the one who provided the “manna” from the “heavenly” region.

The verse continues, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.John added the words, “but my Father” which means “however, nevertheless and notwithstanding Jesus' Father God” “gives you” or “grants, bestows, furnishes and supplies to the people” “the true bread from heaven” which means “the real, genuine, veracious and sincere food and nourishment separate and apart from the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings”. John shared how Jesus told the people His Father, God, was the One who provides “real and genuine” “food and nourishment” from the “heavenly” region.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus differentiated between the “physical food” with which the people were furnished and the “spiritual food” which Father God provided from “Heaven”. Physical food is only temporary and is easily perishable, but spiritual food lasts forever. Jesus came to the world to provide forgiveness of sins and everlasting life with God. Those who yield their lives to His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will receive eternal life and everlasting nourishment from God.

Next time John shares how Jesus tells the people, “the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
