The God of the Living - Luke 20:38

Luke the beloved physician how Jesus continued to speak to the Sadducees by saying, “Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he called the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob”, and in chapter twenty and verse thirty-eight of his book Luke shared how Jesus said, “he is not a God of the dead, but of the living” where we read:

For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

The verse reads,For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living:” Luke began with the words, “For he is not a God” or “because, since and on account that God is not the Godhead and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “of the dead” which means “belonging to the perished, destitute of lie, inanimate and deceased”, “but of the living” or “however with exception God is the God of the breathing, full of vigor, fresh, strong, active and powerful”. Luke shared how Jesus said “God” is not “the Godhead” who belongs to people who are “dead”, but people who are “alive”.

The verse continues, for all live unto him.” Luke added the words, “for all” or “because, since and on account that each, every, the whole and everyone” “live unto him” which means “lives, breathes, is active and is active and powerful to God”. Luke shared how Jesus said every person continues to “live” in the sight of God.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “God” is the “God” of people who are “living” and not “dead”. In other words, the spirits within people continue to live before God. Even though a person's body may have died, like Moses, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob”, they continue to “live” before Him. There is an eternal life, and there is an eternal death. People who believe and trust in Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will receive forgiveness for their sins and everlasting life with God. Those who refuse and reject Jesus will continue living, but shall be forever separated from Him. God wants everyone to be with Him in Heaven, and those who are wise will realize this is the reason He sent His Son Jesus to die for them so they may forever be with the “God of the living”.

Next time Luke shares how, “certain of the scribes answering said, Master, you have well said”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
