The Fig Tree and All Trees - Luke 21:29

Luke the beloved physician shared how Jesus told His disciples, “when you shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring. Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh”, and in chapter twenty-one and verse twenty-nine of his book Luke shared how Jesus gives another parable concerning, the fig tree, and all the treeswhere we read:

And he spoke to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

The verse reads,And he spoke to them a parable;” Luke began with the words, “and he spoke to them or “and Jesus uttered, declare and proclaimed to His disciples” “a parable” which means “an earthly story with a Heavenly meaning”. Luke shared how Jesus began to share another “parable” with His disciples.

The verse continues, Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;” Luke added the word, “Behold” or “lo, look, see and consider” “the fig tree” which means “the tree which bears the fruit of figs”, “and all trees” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the trees”. Luke shared how Jesus instructed His disciples to “consider” the “fig tree” as well as “all trees” which grow.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn of another “earthly story with a Heavenly meaning” that Jesus gave to His disciples. We shall discover more about this “fig tree” and “all trees” in the next verses, but for now let it suffice us to know Jesus knew exactly what His disciples needed to know. God loves people, and His desire is to warn them in advance of the happenings upon the earth. Those who are wise will believe and trust in His Son Jesus for “salvation” from the penalty of death from their sins, and they will follow Him as “Lord” in their lives to direct them in the days ahead. Let all who read these words yield to Him.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus continues His parable with how to know, summer is now nigh at hand”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
