The Son of Man Coming in a Cloud - Luke 21:27

Luke the beloved physician shared how Jesus told His disciples, “when you shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring. Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken”, and in chapter twenty-one and verse twenty-seven of his book Luke shared how Jesus says, then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glorywhere we read:

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

The verse reads,And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud ...” Luke began with the words, “and then or “and at that time” “shall they see” which means “will the people upon the earth observe, notice and behold” “the Son of man” or “God's Son Jesus Himself” “coming in a cloud” which means “arise, appear, come forth and show Himself within a cloud in the sky”. Luke shared how Jesus said at the time when the cataclysmic events are occurring upon the earth and in the skies, He will “arise and appear” within a “cloud” in the sky.

The verse goes on to say, “... with power and great glory.” Luke continued with the words, “with power” or “having strength, ability and force” “and great glory” which means “and massive and abundant honor, praise, opinion, splendor and brightness”. Luke shared how Jesus said He would not only “appear”, but He would do so with “strength, ability, force and abundant honor and splendor”.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus said at the horrific events occur on the earth, He would “return” in a “cloud” with “strength” and “abundant splendor and brightness”. In other words, God will intervene on behalf of the people who put their faith and trust in His Son Jesus, and there is no need to fear because He will “come”. God loves people, and He desires to have a personal relationship with them through His Son Jesus, and those who are wise will receive Him as their “Savior and Lord” well in advance of His return as these things come to pass.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
