Jesus Traveling to Capernaum - John 2:12

John the apostle shared how Jesus turned water into wine, and he wrote, “This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him”, and in chapter two and verse twelve of his book, John shared how Jesus, “went down to Capernaum”, where we read:

After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples:

and they continued there not many days.

The verse reads, “After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: John began with the words, “After this” which means “behind the miracle of turning water into wine” “he went down to Capernaum” which means “Jesus descended, departed and left toward the city of Capernaum which means village of comfort and was a flourishing city of Galilee situated on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee or Lake of Gennesaret near the place where the Jordan flows into the lake” “he” which refers to “Jesus, “and his mother” or “and Jesus' immediate female progenitor or ancestor”, “and his brethren” which means “along with Jesus' physical male siblings”, “and his disciples” or “and Jesus' students, pupils and attendants”. John shared how Jesus and His mother, brothers and “disciples” left “Cana of Galilee” after He performed the miracle of turning water into wine.

The verse goes on to say, “and they continued there not many days.” John continues the words, “and they continued there” which means “and Jesus along with His mother, brothers and disciples stayed, remained and abode in Capernaum” “not many days” or “not a great number of sunrises or sunsets”. John shared how Jesus and those with Him stayed in “Capernaum” for a few days.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus and those with Him were on the move. This time they journeyed to “Capernaum” where Jesus would base His ministry, and they remained there for a few days. Jesus' plan and ministry were coming together, and His intention was to provide “forgiveness for sins” and “everlasting life” to mankind. Anyone who submits their life to Jesus as their personal “Lord and Savior” will be saved, and He invites everyone to follow Him wherever He leads.

Next time John shares how, “the Jew's passover was at hand”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
