Many Believe in Jesus - John 2:23

John the apostle shared when Jesus was asked for a “sign” by people in Jerusalem He said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and will you rear it up in three days? But he spoke of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said”, and in chapter two and verse twenty-three of his book, John shared when Jesus, “was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name” where we read:

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name,

when they saw the miracles which he did.

The verse reads,Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, ...” John began with the words, “Now when he was in Jerusalem” which means “moreover at the time and moment Jesus was in Jerusalem which means set you double peace and was the capital of Palestine” “at the passover” which means “during the time of the paschal sacrifice which was accustomed to be offered for the people's deliverance of old from Egypt”, “in the feast day” or “within the festival or holy day”, “many believed in his name” which means “a large amount of people trusted, were persuaded of and had confidence in everything which the name covers including the thoughts and feelings which are aroused in the mind by mentioning, hearing and remembering of Jesus”. John shared how Jesus was “in Jerusalem” at the time of the “passover” during the “feast day”, and a large group of people “trusted” in Him.

The verse continues, “... when they saw the miracles which he did.” John added the words, “when they saw” which means “at the time and moment the people observed, notice, discovered and discerned” “the miracles” or “the supernatural signs, marks, tokens and wonders” “which he did” which means that Jesus performed, produced, constructed, fashioned and prepared. John shared how people “believed” in Jesus after they “observed” all the “supernatural” wonders He performed.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus was in “Jerusalem” during the “passover feast”, and at that time many people “believed” in Him because of the “supernatural wonders” He performed. Jesus manifested Himself before the people, and as He worked in “miraculous” ways, they “gained confidence” in Him. God wants to have a personal relationship with every person, and when they submit themselves to His Son Jesus, He will forgive them of their sins and grant them “everlasting life” with Him in Heaven. Let all who “observe” the “miracles” of Jesus yield their lives to Him.

Next time John shares how, “Jesus did not commit himself unto them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
