John the Baptist and Two Disciples - John 1:35

John the apostle wrote how John the Baptist baptized Jesus and said, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God”, and in chapter one and verse thirty-five of his book, John began to tell what happened, “the next day after John stood” where we read:

Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

The verse reads, “Again the next day after John stood, ... John began with the word, “again which means “anew, further and once more” “the next day after” which means “the following sunrise to sunset after John bare record of Jesus” “John stood” or “John the Baptist was standing”. John shared how John the Baptist was “standing” the “following day” along with the people mentioned in the latter part of the verse.

The verse goes on to say, “... and two of his disciples;” John continued with the words, “and two” which means “and two in number” “of his disciples” or “belonging to John the Baptist's students, pupils and attendants”. John shared how John the Baptist was “standing” alongside “two” of his “students or pupils” the day after he acknowledged who Jesus was.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how John the Baptist was “standing” alongside “two” of his “students” or “pupils” the day after he told everyone who Jesus was. God's plan of salvation was coming together, and John the Baptist's part was being fulfilled. John the Baptist will say more in our next verse, but for now let it suffice us to know God's plan to “save” mankind was being implemented, and because He wants a relationship with every person, those who yield to Him shall be “saved”. This happens when a person believes and trusts in Jesus who came to pay the price of death for the sins of the world. Let all who read these words submit themselves to Jesus as they recognize who He truly is - “the Savior of the World”.

Next time John tells as John the Baptist and his two disciples were, “looking upon Jesus … said, “behold, the Lamb of God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
