Speaking What We Know and Have Seen - John 3:11

John the apostle shared how Jesus told Nicodemus, “Marvel not that I said unto you, You must be born again. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound thereof, but can not tell from where it comes, and where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Are you a master of Israel, and know not these things?”, and in chapter three and verse eleven of his book, John shared how Jesus said, “We speak that we do know and testify that we have seen” where we read:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, We speak that we do know,

and testify that we have seen; and you receive not our witness.

The verse reads, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, We speak that we do know, ... John began with the words, “Verily, verily” which means “truly, truly or surely surely”, “I say unto you” or “I, Jesus, utter, declare and proclaim to you, Nicodemus”, “we speak that we do know” which means “we, Jesus and His believers, utter, declare and proclaim because, since and on account that we, Jesus and His followers, have perceive, noticed, discerned and discovered” the following. John shared how Jesus declared that He and those who believe and trust in Him “declare” what they have “discovered”.

The verse goes on to say, “... and testify that we have seen; and you receive not our witness. John continued with the words, “and testify” which means “and bare witness and give good report to” “that we have seen” or “to what Jesus and His followers have beheld, perceived, taken heed to and become acquainted with by experience”; “and you receive not our witness” which means “and you, Nicodemus, do not take in hand, lay hold of, carry, claim or procure Jesus and His followers' testimony and record”? John shared how Jesus and His followers gave “witness” to that which they perceived, however, “Nicodemus” did not “claim or lay hold to” that which they “testified”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how neither “Nicodemus”, nor many others, “receive” the “witness and testimony” of what Jesus and His followers declared about being born again. God desires for all people to believe and trust in His Son Jesus so they may have a “spiritual birth” or be “born again” so they may “see the kingdom of God”. However, though many people have experienced what Jesus said, most people do not believe their testimony. God, by His word and testimony through Jesus, is crying out to the world to be “saved” from their sins so He may be in a personal relationship with them. This is His testimony and “witness” that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to “save” people from the penalty of sin which is death, and everyone who will yield their life to Him will receive His forgiveness and inherit everlasting life with Him. Let all who consider these things “receive” Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

Next time John shares how Jesus says, “If I have told you earthly things and you believed not, how shall you believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
