Sealing that God is True - John 3:33

John the apostle wrote how John the Baptist declared, “He that comes from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: he that comes from heaven is above all. And what he has seen and heard, that he testifies; and no man receives his testimony”, and in chapter three and verse thirty-three of his book, John shared how John the Baptist said concerning Jesus, “he that has received his testimony has set to his seal that God is true” where we read:

He that has received his testimony has set to his seal that God is true.

The verse reads, “He that has received his testimony ... John began with the words, “He that has received” which means “the person whether male or female who has taken hold of, carried away, claimed and procured” “his testimony” or “the witness and record of the Messiah Jesus”. John shared how that the person who “claims and procures” the “witness” of the Messiah will do the following.

The verse goes on to say, “... has set to his seal that God is true.”. John continued with the words, “has set to his seal” which means “has marked, proved, confirmed and attested” “that God” or “that the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “is true” which means “exists as the truth, not hidden and unconcealed”. John shared how the person who has “received” Jesus' witness “certifies” that God exists as the “truth”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how the person who “receives” Jesus' “testimony” affirms and certifies that “God is true”. Jesus came to the “earth” to bring “salvation” from the penalty of sin which is death, and because He died for the sins of the whole world, anyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Lord and Savior” will be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God. Let all who read these words “receive” the “testimony” of Jesus and “affirm” that God is indeed “true”.

Next time John shares how John the Baptist says concerning Jesus, “whom God has sent speaks the words of God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
