The Son of Man in Heaven - John 3:13

John the apostle shared how Jesus told Nicodemus, “Marvel not that I said unto you, You must be born again. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound thereof, but can not tell from where it comes, and where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Are you a master of Israel, and know not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto you, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and you receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and you believe not, how shall you believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?”, and in chapter three and verse thirteen of his book, John shared how Jesus said, “no man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven” where we read:

And no man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven,

even the Son of man which is in heaven.

The verse reads, “And no man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, ... John began with the words, “and no man has ascended up” which means “and no person whether male or female has risen or gone up” “to heaven” or “to the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings”, “but he that came down” which means “lest and except He, Jesus, who descended” “from heaven” or “went away, separate and apart from region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings”. John shared how Jesus said no person has “gone to” “heaven” and “descended” from there as well.

The verse goes on to say, “... even the Son of man which is in heaven. John continued with the words, “even the Son of man” which means “except the Son of man who is Jesus” “which is in heaven” or “who has come down from the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings”. John shared how Jesus declared that He was in “heaven” and “descended” to the earth.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus told Nicodemus that no person went up to “heaven” and “descended” again like He did. Jesus is God come in the flesh for the benefit of mankind (See John 1:14), and though He could have remained in “heaven”, He descended to the earth to die for the sins of all mankind. Jesus is the “Savior of the world” and all who believe and trust in Him will be “saved” from eternal damnation to live forever with God. Those who are wise will carefully consider God's “sacrifice” for them and yield their lives to the One who descended from “heaven” on their behalf.

Next time John shares how Jesus tells what will happen, “as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
