Do Whatever Jesus Says - John 2:5

John the apostle wrote, “the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there. And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus said unto him, They have no wine. Jesus said unto her, Woman, what have I to do with you? my hour is not yet come”, and in chapter two and verse five of his book, John shared how Jesus's mother told the servants, “Whatsoever he says unto you, do itwhere we read:

His mother said unto the servants, Whatsoever he says unto you, do it.

The verse reads, “His mother said unto the servants, ... John began with the words, “His mother which means “”and Jesus' immediate female progenitor and ancestor” “said unto the servants” which means “uttered, declared and proclaimed to the ones who execute the commands of another, especially of a master or attendants and ministers” the following words. John shared how Jesus' “mother” began to give instructions to the people who were “serving” at the wedding.

The verse goes on to say, “... Whatsoever he says unto you, do it.” John continued with the words, “whatsoever he says unto you” which means “whatever Jesus utters, declares and proclaims to you servants”, “do it” or “perform and produce what Jesus says”. John shared how Jesus' “mother”, Mary, told the “servants” at the wedding to “perform” whatever Jesus told them to do.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see how Mary, Jesus' mother, continued in her pursuit of solving the lack of wine at the wedding. She turned her attention toward the people who were “serving” and instructed them to “follow and perform” whatever Jesus told them to do. Mary knew Jesus could work a miracle, and although she did not know necessarily how He would solve their problem, she had confidence in Him that whatever He said would work. God loves people to believe and trust in His Son Jesus in this manner, and whoever submits themselves to His authority will be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God. In other words, “do” whatsoever Jesus says.

Next time John shares about, six water-pots of stone, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
