The Woman Died Also - Luke 20:32

Luke the beloved physician how there came to Jesus, “certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him, Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children. And the second took her to wife, and he died childless. And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died”, and in chapter twenty and verse thirty-two of his book Luke shared how the religious leaders said, “last of all the woman died also” where we read:

Last of all the woman died also.

The verse reads,Last of all ...” Luke began with the word, “last” or “afterward or eventually” “of all” which means “pertaining to each, every, the whole and everything” the following occurred. Luke shared how the “Sadducees” said “finally” the following event happened.

The verse continues, “... the woman died also Luke added the words, “the woman” or “the female spouse” “died also” which means “breathed her last, expired and perished even so and indeed”. Luke shared how the “Sadducees” said the “woman who became a widow seven times” “perished” as well.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how the “widow” of the “seven brothers” also “died”. The “Sadducees” will have a question for Jesus concerning this in our next verse, but for now let us carefully consider how tragic and terrible this series of events must have been. Whether the “Sadducees” fabricated this story or it was true, it is a sad story. God works in the worst of scenarios, and His plan is to provide “salvation” to every person who yields their life to His Son Jesus. Though many events and circumstances in life are horrific, Jesus is able to provide “salvation” in them and “everlasting life” in the world to come.

Next time Luke shares how the religious leaders ask, “in the resurrection whose wife of them is she?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
