Jesus Speaks to His Disciples - Luke 20:45

Luke the beloved physician wrote how Jesus asked the religious leaders, “How say they that Christ is David's son? And David himself said in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit you on my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool. David therefore called him Lord, how is he then his son?”, and in chapter twenty and verse forty-five of his book Luke shared how Jesus began to speak, “unto his disciples” where we read:

Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,

The verse reads,Then in the audience of all the people ...” Luke began with the words, “then in the audience” or “at that time within the hearing, perceiving and presence” “of all the people” which means “pertaining to each, every, the whole and everyone of the people who surrounded Him”. Luke shared how Jesus began to speak in the “presence” of “all the people” who were around Him.

The verse goes on to say, “... he said unto his disciples, ...” Luke continued with the words, “he said” or “Jesus uttered, declared and proclaimed” “unto his disciples” which means “to His, Jesus', students, pupils and attendants” the following words. Luke shared how Jesus began to speak to His “disciples” according to the words in the next verse.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus directed His attention toward His “disciples” after speaking to the “religious leaders”. God gives His attention to His Kingdom and gospel, and they are a priority to share with every person. Without a personal relationship with His Son Jesus, no one with have access to God. Let all who read Jesus' words pay particular attention to what He said “to His disciples”.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus told his disciples, “beware of the scribes”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
