The Hour Comes to Worship - John 4:21

John the apostle wrote how Jesus met a “Samaritan woman” at a well located in Sychar. As they conversed, the woman said, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped in this mountain; and you say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-one of his book, John shared how Jesus said to the woman, “believe me, the hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem worship where we read:

Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes,

when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

The verse reads,Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, ...” John began with the words, “Jesus said unto her” or “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation uttered, declared and proclaimed to the Samaritan woman”, “Woman” which means “female human being”, “believe me” or “have confidence in, trust in and be persuaded by me, Jesus”, “the hour comes” which means “the certain and definite time and moment arises and approaches”. John shared how Jesus told the “woman from Samaria” the “definite” time was coming when the following would occur.

The verse goes on to say, ... when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.. John continued with the words, “when you shall neither in this mountain” which means “while you, Samaritan woman, will no and not in any way”, “nor yet at Jerusalem” or “neither and not in any way at Jerusalem which means set you double peace”, “worship the Father” which means “give adoration and homage to the originator and progenitor God”. John shared how Jesus told the “Samaritan woman” the time would “arrive” when she would not “give adoration or homage to God” in the “mountain” to which she referred nor within “city of Jerusalem”.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus began where the “Samaritan woman” introduced the idea of “location” for worshiping God. Jesus told her the “place” for worshiping God would not be in the “mountain” nor in “Jerusalem”, and He will tell her why in our next verse. God desires to be “worshiped and adored” wherever we are, and those who have yielded their lives to His Son Jesus will receive forgiveness of their sins, eternal life with God and a lifetime of giving homage to God wherever they are.

Next time John shares how Jesus says to the woman, “you worship you know not what”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
