A Colt Tied - Mark 11:2

Mark wrote when Jesus and His disciples, “came near to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sent forth two of his disciples”, and in chapter eleven and verse two of his book, Mark shared how Jesus told them, “you shall find a colt tied” where we read:

And said unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as you be entered into it, you shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

The verse reads, “And said unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as you be entered into it, ...” Mark began with the words, “and said unto them” which means “and uttered, declared and proclaimed to His disciples”, “go your way” or “depart, leave and withdraw yourselves” “into the village” which means “toward the nearby city, habitation, hamlet and town” “over against you” or “directly opposite and before the two disciples”: “and as soon as you be entered” which means “and straightway, immediately and forthwith as the two disciples come and make entrance” “into it” or “into the village”. Mark shared how Jesus instructed His “two disciples” to go to the nearby “village” and immediately after they “enter” it, they shall find the following.

The verse goes on to say, ... you shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. Mark added the words, “you shall find” which means “the two disciples will discover, notice and discern” “a colt tied” or “a young donkey or foal”, “whereon” which means “upon which” “never man sat” or “not one single person whether male or female has been seated, fixed and established”; “loose him” which means “unbind, release from bonds and set the young donkey free”, “and bring him” or “and lead or carry the young donkey to Jesus”. Mark shared how Jesus told His “two disciples” they would discover a “young donkey” that was fastened or “tied” which no one ever sat upon him. They were to “set the donkey free” and bring him to Jesus.

When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus knew in advance what His “two disciples” would discover immediately after they entered the “village”. Jesus was in need of a “young donkey” upon which no one ever road because He was to fulfill scripture through this directive. (See Zechariah 9:9) God always has a plan, and He is going to work it out, and because this prophesy must be fulfilled concerning the Messiah, Jesus obeyed God the Father's way. The Heavenly Father's desire is to have a loving personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and every deliberate action taken by Jesus should be observed to discover Jesus is indeed the Messiah sent from God and is worthy to be worshiped as “Savior and Lord”.

Next time Mark shares how Jesus told His two disciples to, if any man say unto you, Why do you this? say you that the Lord has need of him, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
