Suffer the Little Children to Come to Jesus - Mark 10:14

Mark wrote how, “they brought young children to” Jesus, “that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them, and in chapter ten and verse fourteen of his book, Mark shared how Jesus said, “suffer the little children to come unto me” where we read:

But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them,

Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

The verse reads,But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, ... Mark began with the words, “but when Jesus” which means “however, nevertheless, nonetheless, moreover and at the time and moment Jesus who is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “saw it” or “observed, noticed, discerned and perceived that His disciples were rebuking the people who brought the children to Him”, “he was much displeased” which means “Jesus was moved with indignation and greatly afflicted”, “and said unto them” or “and uttered, declared and proclaimed to His disciples” the following words. Mark shared how Jesus “observed” how His “disciples” were “rebuking” the people who brought their the “little children” to Him, and He became “indignant” over their actions.

The verse continues, ... Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark added the words, “suffer” which means “permit and allow” “the little children” or “the small boys and girls” “to come unto me” or “to arise and appear before Jesus Himself”, “and forbid them not” which means “and do not withhold, prevent, hinder or deny the children”: “for of such” or “because, since and on account this sort truly” “is the kingdom” which means “is the royal power, kingship, dominion and rule of the reign” “of God” or “belonging to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Mark shared how Jesus told His “disciples” to “allow” the “little boys and girls” to approach Him and not “prevent or hinder” them because this is what God's Kingdom is like.

When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus was “indignant” over His “disciples” “forbidding” children to come to Him. Their coming to Him demonstrated what God's Kingdom is like. God desires a loving family of “children” who have a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. God sent Jesus to pay the price for the “sins” of the world which separated people from that relationship, and when “children” came to Jesus, they demonstrated how God wants people to “come to” Him. Those who are wise will yield to Jesus as “little children” who believe and trust in Him not only for their “salvation” and “security” in this life, but also in the everlasting life to come.

Next time Mark shares how Jesus said what happens, “whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child” , so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
