Jesus to the Coasts of Judaea Again - Mark 10:1

Mark wrote how Jesus said, “Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another”, and in chapter ten and verse one of his book, Mark shared how Jesus, came into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordanwhere we read:

And he arose from there, and came into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan:

and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

The verse reads, “And he arose from there, and came into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: Mark began with the words, “and he arose from there” which means “and Jesus rose up from the city of Capernaum”, “and came into the coasts of Judaea” or “and entered the coastline belonging to the southern portion of Palestine lying on this side of the Jordan and the Dead Sea, to distinguish it from Samaria, Galilee, Peraea and Idumaea” “by the farther side of Jordan” which means “beyond and across the other side of the river Jordan which means the descender and was the one river of Palestine, has its course of little more than 200 miles (300 km), from the roots of Anti-Lebanon to the head of the Dead Sea.” Mark shared how Jesus left “Capernaum” and entered the coastline of “Judaea” across and beyond the river “Jordan”.

The verse continues, and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again. Mark added the words, “and the people” which means “and the human beings whether male or female” “resort unto him again” or “once again journeyed toward Jesus and assembled and came together to Jesus”; “and, as he was wont” which means “and while Jesus was accustomed and in the habit or custom”, “he taught them again” or “Jesus instructed, gave didactic discourses to instill, explain and expound doctrine to the people another time”. Mark shared how the crowds of people once again gathered to where Jesus was, and as was His custom, Jesus instructed them another time.

When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we see how no matter where Jesus went, there were people who heard He was in their area and they flocked to Him. Jesus had a habit of “teaching” them on the spot, and as usual, He “taught” them again. God loves people, and He wants them to know Him through His word and His Son Jesus. Those who examine Jesus' life will begin to know Him and desire to “receive Him” as their personal “Savior and Lord”. Let all who read these words come to Jesus and “hear” His teachings.

Next time Mark shares how, “the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
