All Things Delivered to Jesus - Luke 10:22

The beloved physician Luke shares how Jesus said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in your sight”, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-two of his book Luke shared how Jesus said, “all things are delivered to me of my Father” where we read:

All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

The verse reads, “All things are delivered to me of my Father:” Luke began with the words, “All things” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of the available things” “are delivered to me” which means “given over, committed and commended to Jesus” “of my Father” or “by God the progenitor, originator and transmitter”. Luke shared how Jesus declared “everything” that exists was “committed” to Him by God the Father.

The verse goes on to say, “and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.” Luke continued with the words, “and no man knows” which means “and no person whether male or female perceives, understands and is acquainted with” “who the Son is” or “who Jesus His Son is”, “but the Father” which means “except for God the progenitor, originator and transmitter”, “and who the Father is” or “who God the progenitor, originator and transmitter”, “but the Son” which means “except for the progeny and descendant who is Jesus”, “and he to whom the Son” or “and toward the person whether male or female” “will reveal him” which means “will expose, uncover, disclose, lay open and make bare God the Father”. Luke shared how Jesus said the revelation of both He and His Father is dependent upon each of them to expose to whomever they desire.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn how God the Father and Jesus the Son are to be “exposed” by each other, and they each choose the people to whom they will reveal themselves. God wants to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when He “exposes” this idea within a person's heart, they respond best by yielding their lives to Him and being grateful for God's abundant grace toward them.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says to His disciples, “Blessed are the eyes which see these things that you see”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
