Hey! Ho! Ole friend of mountainous frame
who long time been my friend
Twas o're much more than thirty years
our friendship did extend
Thy boisterous laugh and flowing tears
revealing passionate drive
the greatness of thy soul within
that thou must live alive
Hey! Ho! Ole friend of mountainous thoughts
of well read book theory
that challenged thee in quest for truth
that forged thy soul leery
Thy large ideas and massive tales
inspired by life's events
cast deep within thy rigid mind
thy politics content
Hey! Ho! Ole friend of mountainous quest
to life there must be more
to find the drive of true Divine
became life's constant war
The lesson learned deny thyself
the answer thus the key
take up thy cross and follow Him
submit to King of Kings
Hey! Ho! Ole friend of mountainous grace
who learned the love of God
extending far within thy soul
forgiving sins abroad
And though religion wrestled thee
till thou didst make the deal
while lying flat thy heartbeat line
submitted God's appeal
Hey! Ho! Ole friend of mountainous gain
in heaven now thy home
for thou didst pass from death to life
and stand before God's throne
And all who yield as thou didst find
their one life God did give
to Jesus' voice they must submit
their only chance to live

thy life hast been my gain
and I shall miss our friendship here
till heaven I obtain
