Fed with the Bread of Tears - Psalms 80:5

In Psalms chapter eighty Asaph said to Jehovah God, “Turn us again, O God, and cause your face to shine; and we shall be saved. O LORD God of hosts, how long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?”, and in chapter eighty and verse five of Psalms Asaph said to Jehovah God, “you feed them with the bread of tears”, where we read,

You feed them with the bread of tears; and give them tears to drink in great measure.

The verse begins, You feed them with the bread of tears; Asaph began with the words, “you feed them” or “you, Jehovah God, devour, burn up and consume them, the people of Israel” “with the bread of tears” which means “by the use of the food and nourishment belonging to weeping”. Asaph said Jehovah God fed the people of Israel with the food of weeping.

The verse goes on to say,and give them tears to drink in great measure. Asaph continued with the words, “and give them tears” or “and grant, bestow and award them with weeping” “to drink in great measure” which means “to imbibe in massive and great amounts”. Asaph said Jehovah God bestowed weeping as a “drink” to the people of Israel in an abundant amount.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Asaph acknowledge Jehovah God's nourishing the people of Israel with weeping. Their crying was in a massive amount, and their only source for rescue was Jehovah God. God wants people to be in a personal relationship with Him, and He made this possible by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins which separated us from Him. When we suffer with “nourishment of tears”, we should always turn to Him and allow Him not only to forgive us and grant us everlasting life, but also to guide us into all truth by His Holy Spirit. (See John 16:13)

Next time Asaph says, “you make us a strife unto our neighbors”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
