Not Keeping the Covenant of God - Psalms 78:10

In Psalms chapter seventy-eight Asaph said, “the children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle”, and in chapter seventy-eight and verse ten of Psalms Asaph said, they kept not the covenant of God where we read,

They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

The verse begins, They kept not the covenant of God, ... Asaph began with the words, “they kept not” or “they, the offspring of Ephraim, did not observe, give heed to or watch over” “the covenant of God” which means “the alliance, pledge, constitution and agreement belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. Asaph said the offspring of “Ephraim” did not observe Jehovah God's pledge and agreement.

The verse goes on to say,... and refused to walk in his law; Asaph continued with the words, “and refused to walk” or “and utterly rejected to amble, journey or make their way along” “in his law” which means “within his, Jehovah God's, direction, instruction, codes and manner”. Asaph said the offspring of Ephraim did not make their way or manner within the direction and instruction of Jehovah God.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the offspring of “Ephraim” did not observe Jehovah God's alliance and they rejected His ways of living. In other words, they did not observe the connection God desires with people, and they opposed conducting their lives according to His commands. God's purposes for mankind is to bless them, and when He gave His “law”, He gave provisions to protect us from dangers, troubles and harm. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to align and journey within His “covenant” and code of living.

Next time Asaph shares how the people, “forgot his works”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
