Not Believing in God - Psalms 78:22

In Psalms chapter seventy-eight Asaph shared how the people of Israel in the wilderness, “tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. Yes, they spoke against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people? Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel”, and in chapter seventy-eight and verse twenty-two of Psalms Asaph shared how the people, “believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation” where we read,

Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:

The verse begins, Because they believed not in God, ... Asaph began with the words, “because they believed not” or “since and on account that they, the people of Israel did not support, confirm, verify or trust” “in God” which means “within the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. Asaph said the reason Jehovah God poured out His wrath upon the people of Israel was on account that they did not trust in Him.

The verse goes on to say,... and trusted not in his salvation: Asaph continued with the words, “and trusted not” or “and they did not have confidence in, were insecure and careless” “in his salvation” which means “within His, Jehovah God's, deliverance, welfare, prosperity and victory”. Asaph said the people of Israel did not have confidence in Jehovah God's deliverance and prosperity.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Asaph the reason that Jehovah God was angry with the people of Israel. They did not trust nor have confidence in Him. This was to their own peril because God is worthy of everyone's faith. God is always loving and faithful, and He proved it by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to have confidence and faith in Him at all times. Let us forever give praise, honor and glory to Almighty God for His provision and deliverance for us.

Next time Asaph shares how, “he had commanded the clouds from above”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
