Not Remembering God's Hand - Psalms 78:42

In Psalms chapter seventy-eight Asaph shared when the people of Israel flattered and lied unto God in the wilderness, “they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel”, and in chapter seventy-eight and verse forty-two of Psalms Asaph said the people of Israel, “remembered not his hand” where we read,

They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

The verse begins, “They remembered not his hand, ... Asaph began with the words, “they remembered not” or “they, the people of Israel in the wilderness, did not recall or bring to mind” “his hand” which means “his, the Divine judge Jehovah God's, hand of strength, power and authority”. Asaph said the people of Israel forgot the power and authority of Jehovah God.

The verse continues, “... nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy. Asaph added the words, “nor the day” or “no and not in any way the time period” “when he delivered them” which means “at the time and moment he, the Divine judge Jehovah God, rescued, ransom and preserve them, the people of Israel in the wilderness” “from the enemy” or “separate and apart from the hating foes and adversaries”. Asaph said the people of Israel in the wilderness also forgot the time Jehovah God rescued them from their hating foes and adversaries.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Asaph recalled how the people of Israel in the wilderness forgot Jehovah God's power and authority, and they did not call to mind the time He rescued them from their hating foes. In other words, the people of Israel forgot God. This was their greatest mistake. God provides and protects people all the time, especially when they surrender their lives to His Son Jesus who came into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to never forget His wonderful provision and protection for us eternally.

Next time Asaph says Jehovah God, “wrought his signs in Egypt”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
