Jehovah Built His High Places - Psalms 78:69

In Psalms chapter seventy-eight Asaph reminded the people of Israel when they journeyed through the wilderness how they “provoked” God, but “the Lord awoke as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouts by reason of wine. And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach. Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim. But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved”, and in chapter seventy-eight and verse sixty-nine of Psalms Asaph said Jehovah God, “built his sanctuary like high palaces”, where we read,

And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he has established for ever.

The verse begins, And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, ... Asaph began with the words, “and he built his sanctuary” or “and he, Jehovah God, erected, established and set up his, Jehovah God's, sacred and holy place” “like high places” which means “similar and in likeness to lofty, exalted and raised up locations”. Asaph said Jehovah God erected His place of “sacred worship” similar to the lofty and exalted places.

The verse continues,... like the earth which he has established for ever. Asaph added the words, “like the earth” or “similar and in likeness to the world” “which he has established for ever” which means “that he, Jehovah God, founded, fixed, appointed and lay the foundation for eternally, long duration, evermore and perpetually”. Asaph said Jehovah God established His “sanctuary” similar to the world that He fixed in place perpetually.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God established His own sacred worship place in a similar fashion to the way He fixed the “earth” in place. God alone forms and fashions His sacred place of worship in the manner He desires, and we have an invitation and opportunity to align with Him. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and lead us to worship Him throughout the world and wherever we are. (See John 4:24)

Next time Asaph says Jehovah God, “chose David also his servant”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
