Forgetting God's Works - Psalms 78:11

In Psalms chapter seventy-eight Asaph said, “the children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law”, and in chapter seventy-eight and verse eleven of Psalms Asaph shared how the people, “forgot his works” where we read,

And forgot his works, and his wonders that he had showed them.

The verse begins, And forgot his works, ... Asaph began with the words, “and forgot” or “and ignored, ceased to remember and lacked in memory toward” “his works” which means “his, Jehovah God's, acts, deeds, doings and practices”. Asaph said the offspring of the people in “Ephraim” ceased to remember the acts, deeds and practices of Jehovah God.

The verse continues,... and his wonders that he had showed them. Asaph added the words, “and his wonders” or “ and his, Jehovah God's, surpassing, wonderful and extraordinary actions” “that he had showed them” which means “that he, Jehovah God, presented and exhibited to be seen by the offspring of the people in Ephraim”. Asaph shared how even through Jehovah God exhibited His wonderful acts before the offspring of the people of “Ephraim”, they did not remember them.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the people of “Ephraim” ceased to remember the acts and deeds of Jehovah God, and their offspring ignored His extraordinary actions as well. God wants people to know Him through a relationship with His Son Jesus whom He sent into the world to die for the sins of all mankind. He created this world with the idea of relating to people, and when we surrender to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and remind us of the marvelous “works” and “wonders” that He has performed.

Next time Asaph says, “marvelous things did he in the sight of their fathers”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
