The Vineyard of God - Psalms 80:15

In Psalms chapter eighty Asaph said, “Return, we beseech you, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine”, and in chapter eighty and verse fifteen of Psalms Asaph speaking of Jehovah God shared concerning, “the vineyard which your right hand has planted”, where we read,

And the vineyard which your right hand has planted,

and the branch that you made strong for yourself.

The verse begins, And the vineyard which your right hand has planted, ... Asaph began with the words, “and the vineyard” or “and the root, shoot and stock of a plant” “which your right hand” which means “that your, Jehovah God's, right hand of power, might and authority” “has planted” or “fastened, fixed and established”. Asaph continued his appeal to Jehovah God by desiring that he consider the stock of the plant, the land of Israel, that He established.

The verse goes on to say,... and the branch that you made strong for yourself. Asaph continued with the words, “and the branch” or “and the offspring, order and class” “that you made strong” which means “that you, Jehovah God, caused to be courageous, brave, stout, bold and solid” “for yourself” or “on behalf of your, Jehovah God's, own self”. Asaph reminded Jehovah God of how He made the offspring of the land and people of Israel to be courageous, bold and brave.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Asaph wanted Jehovah God to remember the land and people of Israel. It's as though he thought God forgot them. The people of Israel began to worship other gods, and they forsook Jehovah God. This is often the case with people as God has not moved away from them, but they have moved away from Him. Jesus said to the people of Jerusalem, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone them which are sent unto you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not!(See Matthew 23:37) and again, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which kill the prophets, and stone them that are sent unto you; how often would I have gathered your children together, as a hen does gather her brood under her wings, and you would not!” (See Luke 13:24) Jesus was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender to Him rather than refuse to receive Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and hear us when we plead for Him to protect us and make us strong.

Next time Asaph says, “it is burned with fire”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
