Binnui Repairing - Nehemiah 3:24

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah went back to the city of Jerusalem and began to rebuild the wall. Among many people he employed was, Nehemiah” himself who was “the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Bethzur, unto the place over against the sepulchers of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty. After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part. After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah. And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece over against the going up to the armory at the turning of the wall. After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest. After him repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib. And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain. After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub over against their house. After him repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah by his house”and in chapter three and verse twenty-four of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said,“after him repaired Binnui”, where we read,

After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another piece,

from the house of Azariah unto the turning of the wall, even unto the corner.

The verse reads, After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another piece, ... Nehemiah began with the words, “and after him repaired Binnui” or “following him, Azariah, strengthened, hardened and made firm Binnui whose name means built up” “the son of Henadad” which means “the male offspring and progeny belonging to Henadad whose name means favor of Hadad” “another piece” or “one other portion or section”. Nehemiah shared show “Binnui” rebuilt one other section of the barrier wall surrounding Jerusalem.

The verse goes on to say, “... from the house of Azariah unto the turning of the wall, even unto the corner.” Nehemiah continued with the words, “from the house of Azariah” or “separate and apart from the habitation, abode and dwelling place belonging to Azariah whose name means Jehovah has helped” “unto the turning of the wall” which means “to the pertaining to the inner buttress belonging to the barrier wall”, “even unto the corner” or “up until and as far as the chief angle and pinnacle”. Nehemiah shared how “Bunnui” continued his work separate from the dwelling place belonging to“Azariah” to the inner buttress up until the chief angle of the wall.

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through Nehemiah how “Bunnui” worked on a portion of the wall that was from “Azariah's” dwelling place to the chief angle thereof. God was accomplishing His work through these men, and as they built their sections, the entire wall was being completed. God wants us to be involved in His Kingdom building, and as we believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was resurrected three days later, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and equip us to work in His Kingdom according to His purpose and plan for our lives.

Next time Nehemiah shares about, “Palal the son of Uzai”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
