The Priests Repairing - Nehemiah 3:22

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah went back to the city of Jerusalem and began to rebuild the wall. Among many people he employed was, Nehemiah” himself who was “the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Bethzur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty. After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part. After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah. And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece over against the going up to the armory at the turning of the wall. After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest. After him repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib”and in chapter three and verse twenty-two of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, “after him repaired the priests”, where we read,

And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain.

The verse reads, And after him repaired the priests, ... Nehemiah began with the words, “and after him repaired” or “and following him, Meremoth, strengthened, hardened and made firm” “the priests” which means “the spiritual spokesmen and leaders”. Nehemiah shared how the spiritual spokesmen rebuilt and strengthened a portion of the wall following “Meremoth”.

The verse goes on to say, “... the men of the plain.” Nehemiah continued with the words, “the men” or “the male human beings” “of the plain” which means “belonging to the round district or environs of the Jordan Valley”. Nehemiah included the male human beings who were among the people who rebuilt the barrier wall surrounding Jerusalem.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover through Nehemiah how the spiritual leaders and the male human beings from the round district were involved in rebuilding the wall, and all who were available in the districts around them to be a part of the work. God wants us to be a part of His His Kingdom work, and we begin by receiving His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. God raised Jesus from the dead three days later, and now all who receive Him as their “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and given a position and place in His Kingdom to carry out His purpose and will every day of their lives.

Next time Nehemiah says, “after him repaired Benjamin and Hashub”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
