In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah prayed, “My God, think you upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear”, and in chapter six and verse fifteen of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, “the wall was finished … in fifty and two days”, where we read,
So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.
The verse reads, “So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, ...” Nehemiah began with the words, “so the wall was finished” or “therefore, then and on this account the barrier wall surrounding Jerusalem was completed” “in the twenty and fifth day” which means “within the twenty-fifth sunrise to sunset” “of the month Elul” or “belonging to lunar moon or month named Elul whose name means nothingness, is the sixth Jewish month and corresponds to modern August to September”. Nehemiah shared how the barrier wall to Jerusalem was completely rebuilt on the “twenty-fifth” sunrise to sunset within lunar moon of “Elul” or “August to September”.
The verse goes on to say, “... in fifty and two days.” Nehemiah continued with the words, “in fifty and two” or “within fifty two” “days” which means “sunrises to sunsets”. Nehemiah shared how he and the people of Judah completed the barrier wall within fifty-two sunrises to sunsets.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah not only when the barrier wall was completed, but also the length of time it took to rebuild it. In only took “fifty-two days” to finish the wall, and because it was important to Nehemiah, he said it was done on the “month of Ezul”. Despite all his difficulties and adversities, Nehemiah did what God told him to do. God wants to have an intimate personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross and was raised from the dead three days later, and when we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to complete and celebrate our work within His Kingdom by His help and aid regardless of the obstacles that we encounter.
Next time Nehemiah shares what happened, “when all our enemies heard thereof”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
