Abraham the Father of All Romans 4:12

Paul the apostle told the Jews in Rome that Abraham,“received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also”, and in chapter four and verse twelve of Romans, Paul tells the people in Rome how Abraham is, “the father of circumcision” and “uncircumcised” where we read:

And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
The verse begins, “And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, ...” Paul began with the words, “and the father” which means “and the generator or male ancestor” “of circumcision” or “the act or rite which is a term used for the Jews” “to them who are not” which means “to the people that are not” “of the circumcision only” which refers to “belonging to the Jews alone or solely”. Paul declared Abraham was not a “father” solely to the Jews.

The verse continues, ... but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.Paul added the words, “but” which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be written takes precedence over what was just stated “who also walk or “the people that even so and indeed march” “in the steps” which refers to “within the footprints, tracks and imitation” “of that faith” or “of the kind of conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things, the provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ” “of our father” which means “belonging to Paul and his companion's generator or male ancestor” “Abraham” whose name means “father of the multitudes” and was “the son of Terah and the founder of the Jewish nation”, “which he had being” or “that Abraham owned, possessed and held” “yet uncircumcised” which refers to “while he had the foreskin and was in a condition in which the corrupt desires rooted in the flesh were not yet extinct”. Abraham who was not yet “circumcised”, according to Paul, was also “father” to anyone who “marched” in step with his same “faith”.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see how Abraham was not only the “father to the Jews”, but also to every person who had his “like-kind” “faith”. Abraham was “uncircumcised” when God provided His promise, and when Abraham believed Him, God gave his the “rite” of the “cutting away of the flesh”. Now every person, whether Jew or Gentile, may receive God's grace by receiving Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and when people realize this, may all who read these words submit themselves to Him.

Next time Paul tells the people in Rome how Abraham was promised to be, the heir of the world, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
