Patience, Experience and Hope Romans 5:4

Paul the apostle told the Jews in Rome concerning Abraham, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God”, and he added, “and not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience.” In chapter five and verse four of Romans, Paul shared how, “patience” leads to “experience” which leads to “hope” where we read:

And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
The verse begins, “And patience, experience;Paul began with the words, “and patience” which means “steadfastness, constancy, endurance and sustaining perseverance”, “experience” or “proving, tried character, proof and a specimen of tried word”. Paul shared how “tried character” is the outflow of “endurance and sustaining perseverance”.

The verse continues, and experience, hope:Paul added the words, “and experience” which means “proving, tried character, proof and a specimen of tried word” “hope” or “expectation of good”. Paul told his readers “expectation of good” is added to a “tried character”.

When we think through these words of Paul, we notice additional character benefits which come from a “faith filled” life of “grace” when a person commits themselves to Jesus Christ. “Patience, experience and hope” are added to the person's life, and these benefit their relationship with God and others. Those who are wise shall receive Jesus Christ by “faith” as their “Savior and Lord” today, and they shall know the “grace, patience, experience and hope” that is found in a relationship with Him.

Next time Paul shares why, hope makes not ashamed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
