Staggering Not at the Promise of God Romans 4:20

Paul the apostle shared with the Jews in Rome how Abraham “against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall your seed be”, and he added, “And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb.” In chapter four and verse twenty of Romans, Paul showed how Abraham, “staggered not at the promise of God” where we read:

He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
The verse begins, He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief;” Paul began with the words, “he staggered not” which means “Abraham did not separate, make a distinction, discriminate, be at variance, hesitate or doubt” “at the promise” or “at the announcement of good or blessing” “of God” or “from the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “through unbelief” which means “by way and means of unfaithfulness or want and weakness of faith”. Paul shared how Abraham did not “hesitate or doubt” God's promise to him.

The verse goes on to say, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;Paul added the word, “but” which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be written takes precedence over that which was just stated “was strong” or “was endued with strength, bold and headstrong” “in faith” which means “the conviction of the truth and belief respecting man's relationship to God and divine things”, “giving glory” or “granting, extending and presenting honor, splendor and brightness” “to God” which refers to “to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul shared how Abraham was “bold and headstrong” in his belief that what God said, He would do, and he honored God in doing so.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how Abraham's faith was “unwavering”. Rather than “doubt” God's word, Abraham believed it without any hesitation. In this, Abraham honored and respected God for who He is and what He promises to do. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to save people from their sins, and His promise is to provide “everlasting life” to all who receive His Son as “Savior and Lord”. Let everyone who reads these words be like Abraham and “stagger not at the promise of God” and receive Jesus as their “Savior and Lord” today.

Next time Paul tells the people in Rome what God, “had promised, he was able also to perform, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
