Paul
the apostle told the Jews in Rome,
“if,
when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his
Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life,
and he added, “And
not only so,
but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have
now received the atonement.” In
chapter five and verse twelve of Romans, Paul shared how, “by
one man sin entered into the world”
where
we read:
Wherefore,
as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin;
and
so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
The
verse begins, “Wherefore, as
by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin;”
Paul
began with the word, “wherefore”
which means “through, by means, ground or reason by which something
is or is not done”, “as by
one man”
which means “through a single human being” “sin”
which means “to miss the mark, err or be mistaken”“entered”
or
“arose or came” “into
the world”
or “in the circle of the earth with all it's goods, endowments,
riches, advantages and pleasures”, “and
death”
which refers to “separation of the soul and body by which the life
on earth is ended” “by
sin”
which means “through missing the mark, erring or being mistaken”.
Paul shared how “one man”
“sinned”
against God, and that allowed “death”
to come into the world. (See Genesis 2:16-17)
The
verse goes on to say, “and
so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Paul
continued with the words, “and
so death”
which means “and thus separation of the soul and body by which the
life on earth is ended” “passed
upon”
or “spread to” “all men”
which refers to “each,, everyone and the whole human race whether
male or female”, “for
that”
or “upon which” “all”
which means “each, every, the whole and everyone” “have
sinned”
or “has missed the mark, erred and been mistaken”. Once “death”
came into the world, every person shall experience it because every
person has “violated” God's law.
When
we meditate these words of Paul, we learn how “death” entered the
world. God told Adam, “in the day that you eat
thereof thou shalt surely die”, and when he violated God's law,
“death” was the result. From that time forward, every person who
lives shall certainly “die” because every person “sins”. This
was the reason Jesus came into the world. “For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in
him, should not perish, but have everlasting life”. (John 3:16) God
desires to have an eternal relationship with every person, and this
is available through His Son Jesus. May all who read these words
“receive” God's gift of salvation and “everlasting life”.
Next
time Paul refers to what happened,
“until the law sin was in the world”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
