Paul
the apostle told the Jews in Rome,“to
him that works not, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly,
his faith is counted for righteousness”,
and in chapter four and verse seven of Romans, Paul shares, “blessed
are they whose iniquities are forgiven”
where we read:
The
verse begins, “Saying,
Blessed are
they whose iniquities are forgiven, ...”
Paul began with the word, “saying”
which means “uttering, declaring and proclaiming”, “blessed”
or “oh how happy” “are
they”
which refers to “are the people whether male or female” “whose
iniquities”
or “whose contempt and violations of the law and wicked ways”
“are
forgiven”
which means “are sent away, departed, yielded up and let go”.
Paul referred to the person who is “oh how happy” because their
“violations of the law” are “put away and departed”.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
and whose sins are covered.”
Paul
added the words, “and whose”
which means “and the person who has” “sins”
or “misses the mark, makes errors and mistakes” “are
covered”
which means “concealed and pardoned”. Paul noted how “happy”
the person was who has their “errors, mistakes and misses of the
mark or perfection” “concealed and pardoned”.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we note his reference to Psalm
chapter thirty-two and verse two where we read, “Blessed
is
the man unto whom the LORD imputes not iniquity, and in whose spirit
there
is
no guile”,
and when a person receives Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior
and Lord”,
their “sins” are “concealed and pardoned” by God. All their
“iniquities”
are “forgiven”,
and they become as though they “never sinned”. This is God's
“gospel” or “good news”, and it is available to everyone who
“believes and trusts” in Jesus Christ.
Next
time Paul shares about the “blessed”,
“to whom the Lord will not impute
sin”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
