Scarcely Will One Die for a Righteous Man Romans 5:7

Paul the apostle told the Jews in Rome, we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience, and patience, experience; and experience, hope.” He added, “and hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” In chapter five and verse seven of Romans, Paul declared, “ scarcely for a righteous man will one die” where we read:

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die:
yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
The verse begins, “For scarcely for a righteous man will one die:Paul began with the words, “for scarcely” which means “even, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore with difficulty, not easily and very rarely” “for a righteous man” or “in behalf of and for the sake of an innocent, faultless and guiltless person whether male or female” “will one die” which means “would a person perish by means of dying or being slain”. Paul referred to the rarity of one “dying” for an “innocent and guiltless” person.

The verse goes on to say, yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.Paul continued with the words, “yet peradventure” which means “even, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore perhaps” “for a good man” or “in behalf of and for the sake of a person whether male or female who has a good, useful, salutary, pleasant, agreeable, joyful and happy constitution or nature” “would even dare” which refers to “might bear, endure or be bold enough” “to die” or “to perish by dying or being slain”. Paul added how it “might be” that someone would “perish” for a person who is “pleasant, joyful and of a good constitution”.

When we think through these words of Paul, we recognize how rare it is for a person to “die” for someone who is “faultless and guiltless” or “pleasant and agreeable”. Jesus, however, “died for the ungodly”, and this is the marvel of the “gospel” or “good news” of God. Ungodly people who “believe and trust in” Jesus Christ shall obtain “righteousness” with God and have “everlasting life”, and those who are wise shall realize how awesome is this plan of “salvation” of God.

Next time Paul shares how,God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
