Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome,
“being
justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
Christ”,
and in
chapter five and verse two of Romans, Paul shared how “we
have access by faith into this grace”
where we read:
The
verse begins, “By
whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand,
...” Paul
began with the words, “by
whom”
which refers to “by Jesus” “also”
or “even so and indeed”, “we
have access”
which means “Paul, his companions and his believing readers have
the ability to approach God and that relationship with God whereby we
are acceptable to him and have assurance that he is favorably
disposed towards us” “by
faith”
which means “through and by means of the conviction that God exists
and is the creator and ruler of all things, the provider and bestower
of eternal salvation through Christ” “into
this grace”
or “that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm,
loveliness and unmerited favor” “wherein”
which means “by which” “we
stand”
or “Paul, his companions and believing readers make firm,
establish, put and set in place”. Paul shared how we may now
“approach” God through “belief and trust” in His “unmerited
favor” in which we are established.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
Paul
added the words, “and
rejoice”
which means “vaunt, glory and boast” “in
hope”
or “in the expectation of good and benevolence” “of
the glory”
which means “of the honor, splendor and brightness” “of
God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul added
that we may now “vaunt and boast” in the “expectation of good”
of God's “glory”.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we should be excited that Jesus has
provided “access” to God by believing and trusting in His
“unmerited favor”. It it our only “stance”, and we may “glory
and boast” in the “expectation of good” He has promised to
those who believe. God has brought “glory” to His name by
giving “salvation” to man, and whenever we align through “belief”
in His Son Jesus, we shall be able to “approach” Him on the basis
of His provision forever and ever.
Next
time Paul shares how, “we
glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
