Paul
the apostle shared with the people in Rome,
“not
as it
was
by one that sinned, so
is
the gift: for the judgment was
by one to condemnation, but the free gift is
of many offenses unto justification”,
and in
chapter five and verse seventeen of Romans, Paul shared about the,
“abundance
of grace and of the gift of righteousness”
where
we read:
For
if by one man's offense death reigned by one; much more they which
receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall
reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
The
verse begins, “For
if by one man's offense death reigned by one; ”
Paul
began with the words, “for
if”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily or
therefore whether” “by
one man's offense”
which means “through and by means of a single man, Adam's, lapse or
deviation from truth and uprightness” “death”
which means “the separation (whether natural or violent) of the
soul and the body by which the life on earth is ended” “reigned”
or “was king, ruled, had kingly power and governance” “by
one”
or “through and by means of a single person”. Paul referred to
how “death”
“ruled” because of “Adam's”
sin.
The
verse continues, “much
more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)”
Paul
added the words, “much
more”
which means “to a larger and greater degree” “they
which receive”
or “the people who take up, lay hold, carry and take away”
“abundance”
which means “super-abundantly, superfluously, preference and
pre-eminence” “of
grace” or
“that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm,
loveliness and unmerited favor” “and
of the gift” or
“and of the granting or gratuity” “of
righteousness”
which means “of the state of him who is as he ought to be and the
condition acceptable with God” “shall
reign”
which refers to “will rule , exercise kingly power over and govern”
“in
life”
which means “within the state of one who is possessed of vitality
or is animate” “by
one”
or “through and by means of one person”,
“Jesus” whose
name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the
Messiah and God incarnate” “Christ”
or “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. Paul
shared how God's “super-abundant” “unmerited favor” and
“condition acceptable with Him” shall to a “greater degree”
“rule” in the lives of those who “receive”
Jesus.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we see how “death”
ruled because of “Adam's” violation of God's law, however, God's
“grace”
and “gift
of righteousness”
superseded “death”
and it's power. The person who receives Jesus Christ as their
personal “Savior and Lord” “receives” God's “unmerited
favor” and are put in “right” relationship with Him, and
“death”
has no eternal power over their lives.
Next
time Paul shares concerning,
“judgment”
and
“righteousness”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
