Paul
the apostle told the Jews in Rome,
“Therefore
by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his
sight: for by the law is
the knowledge of sin”,
and he added, “But
now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being
witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God
which
is
by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for
there is no difference:”
In chapter three and verse twenty-three of Romans, Paul shared how
they have “
all have sinned, and come short”
of God's “glory”
where we read:
The
verse begins, “For
all have sinned,
...”
Paul began with the word, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “all”
which refers to “each, every, the whole and everyone” “have
sinned”
which means “have missed the mark, erred and made mistakes”. Paul
declared every person to have “missed” God's mark of perfection
in righteousness.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
and come short of the glory of God;”
Paul
continued with the words, “and
come short”
which refers to “are left behind, failed to reach the goal, failed
to become partaker, are inferior in power, influence and rank to, are
wanting and fail” “of
the glory”
or “of the praise, honor, splendor and brightness” “of
God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Every
person “is inferior and fails to keep in line with” the “glory”,
“honor and splendor” of God.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we notice the “perfection in
righteousness” of God, and no one reaches that goal. If there is an
aspiration toward this “perfection”, it only shows the was a
deficit previously which disqualifies everyone again. Only Jesus kept
the “law
of God”
in perfection, and He gave His life to pay the penalty for the “sins”
of the whole world - “for
he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in him”.
(2 Corinthians 5:21) Though every person has
“sinned”
and “come
short of the glory of God”,
Jesus Christ fulfilled God's law and desires to offer His “salvation”
to all who will simply “believe” in Him and receive Him as
“Savior and Lord”.
Next
time Paul shares with the people in Rome about,“being
justified freely by his grace”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
