Mark wrote about Jesus how, “the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casts he out devils. And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?”, and in chapter three and verse twenty-four of his book, Mark shares how Jesus said a “divided kingdom”, “cannot stand” where we read:
And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
The verse reads, “And if a kingdom be divided against itself, ...” Mark began with the words, “and if a kingdom” or “and whether a dominion, rule, power and kingship” “be divided” or “is separated into parts and split into factions” “against itself” which means “'in opposition to and positioned across from it's own self”. Mark shared how Jesus began to say what happens when a “dominion and rule” is “in opposition” to it's own self.
The verse continues, “... that kingdom cannot stand.” Mark added the words “that kingdom” which means “the dominion, rule, power and kingship” “cannot stand” or “is unable to be fixed, established and kept intact”. Mark shared how Jesus said a “divided” “dominion, rule and kingship” would not be able to be kept intact.
When we think through Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus refuted the thinking of the “scribes” as He told them any “kingdom” “separated into factions and parts” is unable to be “fixed and established”. “Satan casting out Satan” would “destroy” the “kingdom of Satan”, and therefore the logic of the “scribes” against Jesus was wrong. Jesus is the “Savior and Lord” of the world, and those who align themselves with Him shall not only be “saved” from their “sins” but also inherit “everlasting life” with God in His united and undivided Kingdom.
Next time Mark shares how Jesus said, “a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
