Mark wrote how Jesus told His disciples, “Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables. That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. And he said unto them, Know you not this parable? and how then will you know all parables?”, and in chapter four and verse fourteen of his book, Mark shares how Jesus told His disciples,“the sower sows the word” where we read:
The sower sows the word.
The verse reads, “The sower sows the word.” Mark began with the words, “the sower sows” or “the person who scatters and throws out seed scatters and throws out”, “the word” which means “the sayings of God; the decree, mandate and moral precepts given by God” . Mark shared how Jesus said the “seed” of God's word is “cast out and scattered” everywhere, and this is the purpose of the one who “scatters” it.
When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we see the importance of the “sower” and “the seed or the word”. There are people who “teach, preach, tell and communicate” the “word of God”, and they “cast” their words and actions according to the “gospel” of Jesus Christ everywhere. The importance of God's words cannot be underestimated as it is the only thing that shall bring everlasting hope and life to people. Without the “saving grace” of Jesus Christ who died upon the cross to save man from his sins, there would be no hope of knowing or entering God's Kingdom. The “seed” is God's “word”, and those who receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” shall have “everlasting life”. Those who do not shall be forever condemned and separated from God. This is not God's desire, so may all who are reading these words submit themselves to Him and be saved today.
Next time Mark shares how Jesus about, “they by the way side”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
