Mark wrote how, “there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet. And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lies at the point of death: I pray you, come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live”, and in chapter five and verse twenty-four of his book, Mark shares how Jesus said, “went with him, and much people followed him” where we read:
And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
The verse reads, “And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, ...” Mark began with the words, “and Jesus” or “and the Son of God, the Savior or mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “went with him” which means “departed and left with Jairus”; “and much people” or “and a large and massive group of other people” “followed him” which means “proceeded after, joined and accompanied Jesus”. Mark shared how a large group of people “followed after” Jesus and “Jairus” as they proceeded to “Jairus' house”.
The verse goes on to say, “... and thronged him.” Mark continued with the words, “and thronged” which means “pressed together against on all sides” “him” which refers to “Jesus”. Mark shared how the massive group of people were “pressing against” Jesus on every side as they walked.
When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus again drew a “large crowd” of people. People were in need, and they desired not only to receive from Jesus, but also to hear His teaching of the principles of the Kingdom of God. Those who are wise shall “press near” to Jesus and not only watch Him as He ministers to people, but also learn what God has to say about His Kingdom.
Next time Mark begins to tell about, “a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
