Luke the physician wrote, “Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene, Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth”, and in chapter three and verse six of his book Luke continues to share about the prophesy that said, “all flesh shall see the salvation of God” where we read:
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
The verse reads, “And all flesh ...” Luke began with the words, “and all” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone's” “flesh” which means “the physical nature of man as subject to suffering”. Luke shared how the prophesy concluded that each and every person will have the benefit of the following words.
The verse goes on to say, “... shall see the salvation of God.” Luke continued with the words, “shall see” which means “will observe, behold and perceive” “the salvation of God” or “the hope of future saving pertaining to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke continued to share the prophesy which said every person will “observe and behold” God's hope of future “salvation”.
When meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we see there will be an “observation” of God's “salvation” by every person who lives. Though some people will not accept Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they too shall see Him. Paul the apostle said, “For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God”, (See Romans 14:11), and the time for “salvation” is now. Those who are wise will see the purpose and plan of God to provide them with “eternal hope” and “salvation” through His Son Jesus, and when they yield their lives to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they shall receive forgiveness for their sins and eternal life with God.
Next time Luke shares how John called the multitude who came “to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
