The apostle John wrote concerning Jesus how, “then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have you not brought him? The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man. Then answered them the Pharisees, Are you also deceived? Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? But this people who knows not the law are cursed. Nicodemus said unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) Does our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he does? They answered and said unto him, Are you also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee arises no prophet”, and in chapter seven and verse fifty-three of his book, John shared how,“every man went to his own house”, where we read:
And every man went unto his own house.
The verse reads, “And every man ...” John began with the words, “and every man” which means “and each, the whole, all and everyone of the male human beings” did the following. John shared how all of the “men” did the following.
The verse continues, “... went unto his own house.” John added the word, “went” which means “left and departed” “unto his own house” or “to their own personal dwelling places, habitations and abodes”. John shared how all the “men” went home.
When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how the “religious leaders” who were disputing over Jesus all went to their own homes. God's desire is to have people believe and trust in His Son Jesus so they can be in a personal relationship with Him. Those who are wise will set aside all the disputing, arguments and reasons for unbelief in Jesus and simply “believe and trust” in Him. Let all who read these words yield to Jesus who alone is able to save unto eternal and everlasting life.
Next time we being a new chapter and see John share how, “Jesus went unto the mount of Olives”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
