God is Known in Judah - Psalms 76:1

Psalms chapter seventy-six begins with the heading, “To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song of Asaph” which breaks down, “to the chief Musician” or “to the preeminent, overseeing superintendent or chief choir director“on Neginoth” which means “with a taunting or mocking song set to music”, “A Psalm” or “a melody or poem set to notes “of Asaph” which means “belonging to Asaph whose name means gatherer and was a son of Berechiah and a chief Levite musician under David”, and in chapter seventy-six and verse one of Psalms Asaph said, In Judah is God knownwhere we read,

In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

The verse begins, In Judah is God known: Asaph began with the words, “in Judah” or “within Judah whose name means praised and was the tribe descended from Judah the son of Jacob” “is God known” which means “exist the perceived, recognized, acknowledged and considered Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. Asaph said the Divine judge Jehovah God was recognized and perceived within the tribe of “Judah”.

The verse continues, his name is great in Israel. Asaph added the words, “his name is great” or “his, the Divine judge Jehovah God's, fame, reputation and glory exists as large, important and distinguished” “in Israel” which means “within Israel whose name means God prevails and was the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob”. Asaph declared the Divine judge Jehovah God belonging to Judah also had an important fame, reputation and glory within the nation of “Israel”.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Asaph about the knowledge of the important reputation of Jehovah God in both “Judah” and “Israel”. God desires to be known and exalted by everyone, and because He wants to have a relationship with them, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be among the people who not only know Him, but also exalt His fame, reputation and glory forever and ever.

Next time Asaph says, “in Salem also is his tabernacle, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
