John the apostle wrote how Jesus met a “Samaritan woman” at a well located in Sychar. As they conversed the woman said, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped in this mountain; and you say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-five of his book, John shared how the woman said to Jesus, “I know that Messiah comes which is called Christ” where we read:
The woman said unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is called Christ:
when he is come, he will tell us all things.
The verse reads, “The woman said unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is called Christ:” John began with the words, “The woman said unto him” or “the female human being who was from Samaria uttered, declared and proclaimed to Jesus”, “I know that Messiah comes” which means “I, the Samaritan woman, understand, perceive and discern that the anointed one, the Son of God and the Savior of mankind arises and appears”, “which is called Christ” or “who is maintained and affirmed as the anointed one, the Messiah and the Son of God”. John shared how the “Samaritan woman” knew there was a promise of the “Messiah or Christ” destined to appear.
The verse continues, “when he is come, he will tell us all things.”. John added the words, “when he is come” which means “at the time and moment the Messiah and Christ arises and appears”, “he will tell us” or “the Messiah and Christ will announce, report and bring tidings to us, the people of Samaria about” “all things” which means “each, every, the whole and everything”. John shared how the “Samaritan woman” knew at the time the Messiah and Christ would appear, He would disclose to she and her people everything that needed to be known.
When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how the “woman from Samaria” knew about the “prophecy” concerning the appearing of the “Christ” or “Messiah” She understood that He would disclose to them everything they needed to know to be able to relate to God. Jesus came to “reveal” the “Father God” to every person who will yield their life to Him, and when they humble themselves to Him and ask forgiveness for theirs sins, He will provide them with “everything” they need to enjoy an eternal relationship with Him. God loves people, and He provided His Son Jesus so people could “worship Him” in “spirit and in truth” so they may be with Him forever.
Next time John shares how Jesus tells the woman, “I that speak unto you am he”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
