John the apostle wrote how, “Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. Then said Jesus unto him, Except you see signs and wonders, you will not believe. The nobleman said unto him, Sir, come down before my child dies. Jesus said unto him, Go your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Your son lives. Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Your son lives: and himself believed, and his whole house”, and in chapter four and verse fifty four of his book, John shared how, “this is again the second miracle that Jesus did” where we read:
This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
The verse reads, “This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, ...”. John began with the words, “This is again” or “the healing of this nobleman's son was further and moreover” “the second miracle” which means “the second wonder, token and sign ” “that Jesus did” or “that the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation performed, made ready and produced”. John shared how the healing of the nobleman's son was the “second” one that Jesus performed.
The verse goes on to say, “... when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.” John continued with the words, “when he was come out” which means “at the time and moment Jesus left, departed and appeared” “of Judaea” or “from in a narrower sense, to the southern portion of Palestine lying on this side of the Jordan and the Dead Sea, to distinguish it from Samaria, Galilee, Peraea, and Idumaea whose name means he shall be praised” “into Galilee” which means “circuit and was the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan”. John shared how this “second miracle” of Jesus was performed after He left the area of “Judaea” and arrived in “Galilee”.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn the healing of the nobleman's son was the “second” wonder and sign Jesus performed after He left the region of “Judaea” and entered into “Galilee”. Jesus was continually working among people to bring them into the Kingdom of God. He performed miracles, healings and wonders that demonstrated to the people that He is indeed the “Christ” and Messiah sent from God. Those who are wise will examine all the wonderful works of Jesus and submit to Him who alone is able to “save” them and grant them everlasting life with God.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see John share about, “another feast of the Jews”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
